The Areas to Experience Heaviest Rainfall - Weather Department

The weather department issued a warning to Kenyans on areas in the country that could experience heavy downpour from 30th April to 4th May.

In a press statement, the department indicated that several areas are expected to be pounded by heavy rainfall, accumulating to 20 milimetres in 24 hours, during the five days.

On 30th April, the department noted that south-eastern parts of Isiolo County extending into the extreme western parts of Garissa County, Meru, Kericho and parts of Trans Nzoia will be adversely affected.

Kericho, Nandi, Meru, Nairobi and parts of Northern Turkana will receive heavy rainfall on 1st May while Moyale, West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Kericho, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Meru and Lamu will experience intense downpour for two days (May 1&2).

The alert comes amid reports of deadly landslides and collapse of buildings that have left several people dead.

On Friday, four people died and three others were injured after the Department of Defence (DoD) perimeter wall along Lenana Road, Nairobi, collapsed on them.
