Babu Owino Threatens to Swear in Raila as President During Address at ODM Tononoka Rally

University of Nairobi (UoN) students' leader Paul Ongili Owino, alias Babu Owino, turned heads in his address during the ODM Party rally at Tononoka grounds in Mombasa on Sunday.

The aspiring Embakasi East Member of Parliament pledged his allegiance to ODM leader Raila Odinga, emphasising that in the case that the elections did not favour him for president, he would rally his team and forcefully swear in Raila as president at Uhuru Park and invade State House.

Babu further took a direct shot at Coast regional coordinator, Nelson Marwa and President Uhuru Kenyatta

"Marwa ni mkebe ya Blue Band. Marwa ni gunia ya makaa. (Marwa is an old metal Blue Band margarine tin. Marwa is a sack of charcoal.)" Babu thundered.

The remark may have been provoked by Marwa's recent attack on Governor Hassan Joho.

The Chairperson of the Students Organization of Nairobi University (SONU) criticised the President saying that his alleged attacks on Joho were unwarranted.

He added that death was inevitable for both leaders, insinuating that the struggle to remain in power was pointless.

The SONU Chairperson was in 2015 named one of the 10 most influential people in Kenya after rising to fame for his superfluous use of bombastic words.
