Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto Conducts Special Prayers at Silibwet Grounds

Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto on Wednesday attended special prayers at the Silibwet grounds where police officers allegedly hit with a teargas canister.

While making the announcement, Ruto divulged that the meeting had been convened by elders and clergymen to "cleanse" the ground and pray that such incidents don't happen again.

“Attending prayers organised by elders & clergy to cleanse Silibwet grounds where I was assaulted by police with a tear gas canister last month,” Ruto posted on twitter.

On November 6, the Bomet Governor claimed he went to the Silibwet football stadium after receiving reports that police officers were harassing some youth.

Upon arrival, Ruto claimed an argument ensued before police officers attacked and lobbed teargas canister that injured his face.

He was later flown to Nairobi for treatment before doctors advised him to seek specialised treatment in South Africa.

The Governor came back to the country after a week and was given a hero's welcome by a section of his supporters.

However, police officers stated that Ruto had been hit by a stone and not a tear gas canister as he had earlier alleged.
