Former lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu on Friday narrowly escaped death during a mass demonstration in Kitui County.
Her close friend and ex-Kitui Mayor Martha Mwangangi was sadly crushed to death by a County fire engine during the demos.
The incident which happened near Kitui Police Station escalated tension in the area.
At the same time, Kitui Central MP Makali Muli narrowly escaped death after the enraged mob mistakenly descended on him and roughed him up before his bodyguard brandished his gun to scare the mob away.
Ms Ngilu had reportedly gone to calm down traders who were protesting the demolition of their kiosks at Kalundu Market. The shelters are said to have been demolished by County officers without notice.
