Chief Slashed to Death Days After Promotion

A chief was on Friday butchered just one week after being promoted to the position.

Mohamed Shee Mohamed of Mbwajumwali, Lamu County was slashed to death by machetes as he left his home for work.

Confirming the incident, County Commissioner Joseph Kanyiri said that the motive behind the attack was yet to be established.

“It is true that Mbwajumwali chief has been murdered. I understand he was attacked on his way to work on Friday,” said Mr Kanyiri.

It is not clear how many people attacked the slain government administrator.

The incident left residents of Mbwajumwali in a sombre mood since the deceased was at the forefront of fighting drug abuse menace, destroying lives at the Coast.

Shee, 50, was promoted after serving as an assistant chief for several years.

Kanyiri assured that investigations into the murder had been launched to determine the perpetrators and their motive.
