CORD to Launch 'Firimbi' Movement

A section of Members of Parliament (MPs) affiliated to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have vowed to launch a new drive dubbed Firimbi Movement to push for change in the country.

Speaking at United Christian Church in Kawangware, Nairobi, the lawmakers who blew whistles in Parliament led by Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati, said they had no regrets over their actions and would use the movement to demand for change.

“This is a team of change. It is a team that took courage to blow whistles in Parliament to let the President know that the country requires change. It is the start of Firimbi movement. We will blow whistles everywhere,” asserted Arati.

Other leaders present were ODM Chairman John Mbadi, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi, Homa Bay Women Representative Gladys Wanga , Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang’ and Ruaraka MP Tom Kajwang.

Ms Wanga dismissed warnings that the legislators would be ejected from House Committees saying they would persist in their demand for change in the country's leadership.

“I don't serve in the Parliamentary Service Commission at the behest of Jubilee. I represent CORD and that will be a small price to pay,” she said.

Busia Women Representative Florence Mutua who was also present, accused National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi of bias while implementing House rules.

“Muturi deserves prayers because he is biased. Why was Wandayi punished yet other MPs have committed worse acts in Parliament?” she asked.
