Court Dismisses Kabogo's Academic Qualifications Case Against Waititu

Kiambu Governor William Kabogo on Wednesday suffered a major setback after the High Court dismissed his case against Kabete Member of Parliament Ferdinand Waititu.

The court threw out the case where Kabogo was challenging the degree certificate awarded to Waititu from Punjab University in India.

While giving a ruling on the case, Justice Joseph Onguto stated that the court had no jurisdiction to handle the case maintaining that the issues raised would be handled by other appropriate bodies.

The judge cited the integrity and leadership issues raised in the case by Kabogo noting that the EACC was mandated with handling such matters, therefore, the court would not interfere.

Justice Onguto thus struck out the case and further slapped Kabogo with the burden of covering the legal cost of the case.

Governor Kabogo and Waititu have been embroiled in a war of accusations and counter-accusations after the Governor claimed that the latter possessed a fake degree.

The row escalated especially after Waititu, who is former MP for Embakasi, shifted his political base from Nairobi to Kiambu and vowed to challenge Kabogo for the gubernatorial seat in 2017 elections.

Waititu, however, insisted on the authenticity of his academic qualifications giving photo evidence to confirm that he attended his studies in India and graduated.
