Cyrus Jirongo in Trouble over Sh25 Million Loan

Former Lugari Member of Parliament (MP) Cyrus Jirongo, who allied to the National Super Alliance (NASA), risks being jailed for allegedly failing to pay a Sh25 Million loan he secured three years ago.

Mr Brian Vongo, a businessman and Jirongo’s accuser, filed a lawsuit for the arrest of Mr Jirongo. In the suit, Mr Vongo wants the court to issue an arrest warrant for Jirongo if he fails to pay the cash in one month.

In the suit, Jirongo is accused of not remitting instalments on time and not fulfilling his part of a signed agreement.

Mr Vongo noted that he loaned Jirongo Sh25 Million that was to be paid in three instalments but the former legislator had only paid two instalments amounting to Sh10 Million.

According to the businessman, Mr Jirongo had agreed to sell off his properties to pay the loan. He, however, indicated that Jirongo has been evasive after paying the first two installments.

The former legislator has been ordered by the court to present himself on March 27 or send an advocate to explain why action should not be taken against him.

Meanwhile, Mr Jirongo is yet to announce the position he will be vying for in the August polls after failing to clinch the Kakamega Senatorial seat in the 2103 elections.
