Daily Nation Apologises After 'Terror Attack College' Headline

The Daily Nation finally made a public apology on Monday after a headline which referred to Garissa University as the 'Terror Attack College'.

In the apology printed by the paper on the bottom part of page 2, the daily regretted the 'unfortunate error'.

"A headline in the Daily Nation of April 13, 2016 referred to Garissa University College as terror attack college, a characterisation that was in poor taste and not helpful to a community that is trying to heal and move on from the atrocity," the apology read in part.

"The Daily Nation apologises to the Garissa Univeristy College community for this unfortunate error," the paper wrote.

Last week, the paper published an article titled 'Terror attack college set to admit 710 students', a description that angered the public which then demanded an immediate apology from the newsroom.

The headline was termed by section of the public as irresponsible journalism that portrayed no patriotism

The incident comes after a separate one where international media CNN referred to Kenya as a 'hotbed of terror' prior to US President Barrack Obama's visit to the country last year.

CNN splashed  'Security Fears as Obama heads to terror hotbed'.

The description was sharply criticised on social media forcing CNN Executive Vice President and Managing Director Tony Maddox to jet into the country and personally apologise to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
