Daniel Munyambu Withdraws His 2017 Presidential Bid

A United Kingdom politician who expressed interest in 2017 presidential election has quit from the race in support of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Daniel Munyambu, who had vowed to kick Kenyatta out of office in the August 8 polls, declared that he would now be backing the Head of State.

Announcing his withdrawal from the race, Munyambu who is a former councillor in Basildon, threw his weight behind the incumbent President citing the interest of the country.

"After consultation with my team of advisors, I have decided not to run against President Uhuru because he is an honest leader who needs support for the best interest of our country,” he stated.

Munyambu, who hails from Gatundu South, expressed interest in working in Kenyatta's administration despite having previously condemned the Jubilee government.

According to the former councillor, the President if re-elected should select some Kenyans from diaspora as advisors to ensure economic development.

"I will request him to offer me a platform I can implement my policies especially in fighting corruption, restructuring economy for jobs creation, establishing universal health care and fixing the chaotic devolved government,” added Munyambu.

In 2016, the politician announced his candidature in the August polls noting that his first goal would be to deal with the runaway corruption witnessed in the country.

He also promised that he would concentrate on turning around the economy of the nation citing his 10-years experience in British governance.
