A planned attack by five gangsters on Mihang'o Police Station in Kayole went wrong after police shot dead one member of the gang.
The Monday night incident also saw one suspect get arrested while three others escaped.
The assailants had raided the police station, armed with crude weapons and firearms, demanding that the officers on duty surrender their arms. Resistance by the police would see a gun battle that killed one gangster and injuring the other.
Kayole Divisional Headquarters sent back up after receiving a distress call from Mihang'o officers and on realizing they would be outnumbered, the three gangsters fled with minor injuries.
Police have launched a manhunt for the three.
