Drama as Wife Gives Bishop Husband's Sh200,000 Loan

A man burst into a church in Kisumu demanding his Sh200,000 loan that his wife had allegedly given to the church as tithe, for prayers to ward off devils in her home.

Geoffrey Odhiambo claimed that his wife had not asked for his consent despite his car being collateral for the loan.

According to a witness, the woman had complained of devils and evil spirits in her house, therefore gave the tithe for her prayers to be answered.

Lawrence Odengo, claimed that the woman was notorious for giving a lot of money to 'Jesus Elevation Tabernacle', which is situated in the City's Central Business District.

The dramatic incident which attracted a crowd to the church, ended with police officers arresting Mr Odhiambo.

The angered man was forcefully dragged out of the church by male ushers, after a 10 minutes tussle.

Residents demanded the closure of the church, saying that its services were strange, and further compared it to Pastor Victor Kanyari's Salvation Healing Ministry Church in Nairobi. Kanyari's church was exposed on national TV duping faithfuls using non-existent miracles.

Mr Odhiambo was taken to Kisumu Central Police Station where he recorded a statement.
