Earth Tremor Hits Meru and Embu Counties

Residents in parts of Meru and Embu counties on Sunday night feared for their safety after a tremor hit the region.

The tremor which lasted for 30 seconds, is said to have taken place at around midnight, leaving residents confused not knowing what was shaking their houses.

The Meteorological department on Monday confirmed the slight earthquake, adding that there were no casualties.

It is reported that the locals in Maua, Igembe North and Igembe South experienced the tremor just before midnight.

However, some told the media that they were deep asleep and only woke up to hear the news from neighbours.

Officers from the Meteorologial department have promised to investigate and establish the cause of the tremble, and if it had an impact on the earth's surface.
