Elders From Busia County Tell Presidential Candidate Raila Odinga to Keep Off Governor Race

Elders from Busia County have warned National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga against meddling in the gubernatorial race by endorsing incumbent Sospeter Ojaamong.

The elders insist that the people of Busia should be left to decide who they want as a leader without external pressure to side with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader.

Speaking yesterday, Chairman of the Council, Mr George Wesonga, asked the former prime minister to focus on the presidential race.

"We are appealing to ODM party leader Raila Odinga not to interfere with the Busia gubernatorial race by campaigning for governor Ojaamong'. If he comes to Busia, he should focus on his presidential campaigns," he urged.

The elders added that they were disappointed at how victory was stolen from Funyula Member of Parliament Paul Otuoma during the party primaries.

Their counterparts from Khwisero also sent a warning to Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya cautioning him against endorsing Benjamin Andama against incumbent MP Benjamin Andayi.

They threatened to support his main challenger Senator Bonny Khalwale if he does not desist.
