Esther Passaris Quits Nairobi 2017 Gubernatorial Race

Nairobi Gubernatorial aspirant Esther Passaris has quit the race for the county’s top seat ahead of the August 8 General Election.

Announcing the decision on her Twitter timeline, Passaris divulged that she decided to drop her bid because her candidature was proving unrealistic due to many unspecified reasons.

Despite shelving her governorship ambitions, she maintained that she was considering vying for other positions.

My aspirations for Governor are proving to be unrealistic for 2017 for many reasons and for that I am sorry. What next? #Let'sWinTogether

Passaris has in the past faced a series of challenges in her political career with the latest being the Registrar of Political Parties declining to register her Harambee party which she intended to use in the upcoming elections.

In 2013, she vied for Nairobi Woman Representative position on a Kenya National Congress (KNC) ticket but lost to incumbent women rep Rachael Shebesh.
