PHOTOS: Explosion at Wetangula Presidential Bid Launch

Two people were on Saturday afternoon injured after exlosives went off during the launch of Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula's presidential bid.

The meeting which was taking place at the Muliro Gardens in Kakamega County was disrupted just when Wetangula was about to address the crowd.

Reports indicate that rowdy supporters of Ford Kenya and the Orange Democratic Party began heckling each other before a clash ensued. 

Ford Kenya youths tore and burnt ODM T-Shirts and caps as the two factions physically engaged in fierce confrontation prompting deployment of the riot police. 

Leaders in attendance including CORD co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka, Senators Bonny Khalwale and Omar Hassan among others, scampered for safety as the chaos spilt to the dias.

CORD leader Raila Odinga and Kakamega Governor Wycliff Oparanya conspicuously skipped the meeting.

Earlier on, there was uncertainity concerning the venue of the launch, as the Kakamega County Government had reportedly denied Ford Kenya permit to hold the meeting.
