Fake Lawyer Busted During Court Session

A man was arrested on Wednesday while presenting a case in a Kapsabet Court, after it was realised he was allegedly an impostor High Court Advocate.

David Ochola Ogege, said to have been practising law illegally for one year, appeared in court on Friday to answer to the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate Caroline Watimah, where he pleaded not guilty.

Mr Ochola was accused of repeatedly lying that he was a High Court Advocate based in Kapsabet Town, with records reportedly showing that he was not a licenced lawyer in the region.

According to Chairman of the Law Society of Kenya David Mongeri, the accused had been invocking the name of a Nairobi based Laywer, using his personal registration number to dupe clients and the society.

Police officers raided his office and found volumes of documents, rubber stamps and court material he had been using in his scam.

Mr Ochola was released on a Sh30,000 bail with his case set for hearing on January 31, 2016.
