Four men disguising themselves as police officers on Monday exchanged fire with the police in Mombasa before they were overpowered.
During the shootout said to have lasted about 10 minutes, security officers recovered fake police certificates, several ATM and identification cards, a real gun, homemade pistol and handcuffs.
Three of them were reportedly arrested while one who was armed with a gun escaped towards the ocean with bullet wounds.
