A man from Mwavitswa village in Kilifi county took the life of his own child after he pulled out the child's teeth and a finger nail.
The unexpected death of the innocent toddler was as a result of superstitious belief that led the man to conclude it was abnormal for the child to have the teeth at the age of five months.
According to The Star, Jumwa Yaa left her child under the care of the child’s father on Monday, as she went to a shopping center.
When she returned home, she found the child bleeding heavily- the father had pulled out the child's two milk teeth and a finger nail.
The man was nowhere to be found.
Reports indicate that the suspect fled on seeing that the child was dying.
The grieving mother reported the matter to the police and the body was taken to Coast Province General Hospital mortuary.
Police in the area have launched investigations into the matter as well as a man hunt for the suspect.
