Female MPs Donated Chains of Gold to Ida Odinga - Duale Claims

Majority Leader of the National Assembly Aden Duale has now claimed that the jewellery Raila Odinga's wife, Ida Odinga, wears were donated by female Members of Parliament (MPs) in 2007.

Speaking on Friday during a public forum, Duale alleged that female MPs who bought ODM nominations in 2007 took gold and diamonds to Ida.

"Ladies who bought nomination seats took chains of gold to his wife Ida Odinga. The golds and diamonds she is wearing have been donated by female MPs in the 10th Parliament who got their nominations through bribery," Duale was quoted.

The legislator also claimed that he gave the former Prime Minister Sh18.5 Million for his presidential campaign adding that he had receipts as evidence.

Duale stated that he was instrumental in transforming Odinga from being a Luo village leader to a national leader.

"In 2005, Raila was the leader of Liberal Democratic Party, basically a Luo party ... I ensured for the first time in the history of North Eastern, 10MPs including myself voted for ODM and came to Parliament on an ODM ticket," he claimed.

The Garissa Township MP, who is a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto, was responding to claims made by Odinga during his tour in Garissa.

“I personally picked up Duale and took him to one of the Sheikhs and a group of renown elders in Garissa Town, and prevailed upon them to support him for the Dujis constituency parliamentary seat," the former premier told residents.
