Female Police Officer Kills Boda-Boda Operator in Busia County After Scuffle

Riots erupted in Butula, Busia County on Thursday after a female police officer allegedly shot and killed a boda-boda operator along the Bumala-Ejinja road in public.

According to witnesses, the police officer pulled out his gun after they had an argument with the motorcyclist, only identified as Nyabola, and shot him before he fell off the boda-boda and died instantly.

Speaking on the incident, Western region police boss Moses Ombati divulged that they had received reports on the matter adding that investigations had commenced.

"I have dispatched a team to the scene to ascertain what's going on," Mr Ombati stated.

The protesting residents gathered outside Burinda AP post and torched one of the police vehicles.
