Five children from Kakamega County were killed on the spot and one critically injured in a lighting strike.
The children were playing at Lumakanda Boys secondary School playground when tragedy struck, yesterday evening.
The football match had brought together children from different schools, despite the ongoing rains in the area.
The bodies of the five children were taken to to Chevaywa hospital mortuary.

The incident comes barely a day after seven other primary school children from Murang'a County drowned at Diani.
The students had gone on a school trip to the coast when disaster struck.
