Galole MP Hassan Dukicha Pours Water on Governor Hussein Dado During Jamhuri Celebrations in Tana River County

Drama unfolded in Tana River County on Monday during Jamhuri Day Celebrations after Galole Member of Parliament (MP) Hassan Dukicha poured water on Governor Hussein Dado and County Commissioner Isaiah Nakoru.

Trouble began when the Legislator was denied access to the dais where the celebrations were ongoing at Hola Stadium in the County.

Mr Dukicha then came back with a group of rowdy youth riding on motorcycles and forcefully gained entry to the event.

The legislator is said to have grabbed a bottle of water and threw it towards the Governor and County Commissioner before police officers intervened and restored order.

The Governor's Director of Communication, Galgallo Fayo, confirmed the incident on Tuesday adding that the Governor was unmoved by the incident.

“Indeed the incident happened but both the governor and the county commissioner were unmoved and they did not want the historical national event to be diluted by such a trivial issue,” Mr Fayo told a local Daily.

Meanwhile, Jamhuri celebrations were marred by chaos in different counties including Meru and Mombasa after supporters of different politicians clashed.

In Meru, supporters of the area Governor Peter Munya and Senator Kiraitu Murungi got into a fight bringing the event to a standstill.

The warring groups are said to have descended on each other with kicks and blows before police intervened and fired tear gas canisters to disperse them.
