President Uhuru Kenyatta has been warned by Gatundu North Member of Parliament Kigo Njenga that he will suffer great loss if the Jubilee party primaries are not conducted in a free and fair way.
Speaking in Mbichi village yesterday, the MP cautioned that mismanagement of the nominations will result in the party's supporters boycotting the August polls.
Kigo asserted that acts of violence during the primaries will deter voters from turning up for the Genaral Election as Kenyans are a peace loving people.
"Voter apathy cannot be ruled out in the August general election if the primaries lack fairness and are not done in a transparent manner. I am calling on the party stalwarts to ensure fairness in Friday’s nomination as the victim will be none other than President Uhuru Kenyatta," Kigo warned.
The Legislator further called for disciplinary action against aspirants who are trying to sway the vote in their favour through bribery. He proposed that they be denied the clearance certificate.
"We can only get the best leadership in all levels of government through respecting the wishes of the electorate," he observed.
The comment came as JP Secretary General Raphael Tuju acknowledged that the party was experiencing a major logistical challenge in planning for the 20,000 polling station.
