Girl Found with Bhang in Sex and Drugs Bus Saga Sentenced to Probation

The high school student arrested for possession of bhang in the sex and drug bus saga, has been sentenced to 18 months probation.

She will be under the care of her parents, but will be required to see a probation officer once every month during the period of the probation.

The form four student was arrested after rolls of bhang, tobacco and match boxes were found hidden in her privates.

She was among the 40 students who were arrested in a Nairobi bound bus for smoking bhang, drinking and having sex in a bus.

The students were intercepted by officers from the Sagana Traffic Police base.

The driver and the conductor of the said bus were arraigned in court last week, and charged with various traffic offences committed in the controversial bus tour from Nyeri where the students had been picked.

Consequently, the driver was slapped with a Sh45,000 fine, while the tout's fine was put at Sh40,000.

The girl's case was heard yesterday evening in chambers at the Principal Magistrate’s Court in Baricho.

She pleaded guilty to the charges of possession but insisted that the drugs belonged to a friend.

Speaking to Capital FM News about the sentence, the minor's lawyer -Gladys Wamaitha said that the order to see a probation officer once every month is unrealistic and will affect the girl's studies.

She therefore is plans to contest the ruling tomorrow.
