Government Bans Eating in Weddings and Funerals in Nakuru

Nakuru County Government has placed a ban on eating at all public gatherings including social functions as a measure of controlling the Cholera outbreak that has hit the county.

In about a week since the first case was reported, nine lives have been claimed so far and the public health officials have placed all health workers on high alert as well as dedicating two ambulances to the cause.

The government has also increased chlorine levels in the public water supply system as well as unblocking the drainage system to reduce risks of a pandemic.

So far, Rift Valley General Hospital, Bahati Sub District Hospital, Kiti, Langalanga Rhonda Health Centres have been established as key cholera treatment facilities.

Residents have been advised to practice hygiene on a higher notch as a precautionary measure and to visit a health facility in case of symptoms.
