Government Orders Roll Call in Public Schools

County education officials were on Saturday directed by the Government to take a roll call of teachers in public schools.

Principal Secretary of Education Dr. Belio Kipsang instructed County Directors of Education to take attendance of learners and teachers a day after the Court declared the teachers strike illegal.

The directive was placed on Saturday's newspapers.

“Monitor the situation on the ground and make daily reports to reach this office through the acting Education Secretary by 4pm daily,” Dr Kipsang ordered.

Officials are meant to oversee the situation and hand in reports as well as cooperate with County Commissioners in insuring that children, teachers and school property are well protected.

The teachers' strike was officially called on Tuesday.
