Governor Accuses Brother of Threatening to Kill Him

Kirinyaga Governor Joseph Ndathi has accused his own brother of threatening him with death in what is playing out as a sibling rivalry over unsettled debts.

Mr Gichobi Ndathi, the Governor's brother, claims that the County boss failed to repay Sh7.21 Million he allegedly lent the governor for campaigns back in 2013.

On Tuesday, Gichobi recorded statements with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in regard to the claims that he had threatened to kill his brother.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a source close to the governor, who prefered not to be named due to the private nature of the matter, rubbished the claims that the Governor owed his brother any money.

“The man is clear (in the recorded statement with the police) that he gave other people money and not governor Ndathi. If he gave other people he should go for them with evidence and not Governor Ndathi,” responded the source.

The source also revealed that the governor's brother was once a convicted criminal who had served two years at Kamiti Maximum Prison, hence his threats should not be taken for granted.

“He is a convicted criminal being used by political enemies to drag the governor's name,” the source asserted.
