Governor Jackson Mandago Campaigners Attacked and Beaten Mercilessly in Uasin Gishu

Tension is high in Uasin Gishu County, Eldoret, after three aides allied to Governor Jackson Mandago were severely injured after being attacked by unknown people.

Confirming the incident, Langas OCPD Wilson Abduba stated that the three campaigners were savagely attacked in Kisumu road, Saturday night while campaigning for Governor Mandago and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi.

One of the victims, Jairo Mutai, revealed that they were attacked by a group wielding crude weapons before they were saved by good samaritans.

“They blocked the road using a matatu, pulled us out of our car and started beating us up. We were saved by good Samaritans before police arrived," stated Mutai.

Mutai added that the gang fled immediately after the incident and pointed an accusing finger on their opponents for the attack in what they termed as politically instigated.

Police have launched investigations into the matter.

The attack comes weeks after a convoy of Uasin Gishu Gubernatorial aspirant and Billionaire Businessman  Zedekiah Kiprop, aka Buzeki was also attacked leaving five of his supporters seriously injured and his vehicles seriously damaged in Eldoret.

It is alleged that the chaos started when Governor Jackson Mandago's  supporters attacked the Billionaire's convoy as it entered Eldoret Central Business District (CBD) shouting anti-Buzeki chants and pelting his vehicles with stones

“I had just landed from Nairobi and was in the process of thanking my supporters who voted for me in the nominations. The supporters of my competitor started pelting us with stones and injuring my supporters,” Buzeki stated.

The duo had been engaged in a heated battle for the Jubilee ticket in the just concluded party primaries that saw the incumbent governor win the nomination.
