Governor Joho Plans Parallel Rally During President Uhuru Kenyatta's Mombasa Tour

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has yet against demonstrated his ability to publicly take on President Uhuru Kenyatta after he organised a parallel rally to counter the Jubilee Party’s major rally scheduled for this Sunday.

The Jubilee Party rally will be held at Tononoka grounds in Mvita Constituency and Joho’s allies have hinted that he plans to hold his rally at Mvita grounds which is only a few minutes away.

As proof of how serious the Jubilee rally is being taken, the party’s candidate for the deputy governor’s position Ananiah Mwaboza explained that plans were being made directly by Kenyatta’s official handlers.

“The rally is being organised by State House, Nairobi, so I have very little details to give. What I know is that President Uhuru Kenyatta will be there,” Mwaboza said.

When questioned on whether the Opposition’s rally was likely to cause a stand-off between their supporters, Joho explained that he did not want to pick a fight with anyone.

“They can do what they want. We have no issues with that. The only thing we want known is that everybody has a right to campaign. We will not interfere with them and they should not interfere with us,” the governor said.

He further alleged that the National Super Alliance had planned their visit sometimes back and were not in any way countering Jubilee.

“It could be either way. Jubilee may have planned a parallel rally to counter NASA’s. We don’t know what their plans are. We have no idea about their programme, but we have a running one that should not be seen as having a parallel rally,” Joho added.
