Kitui Governor Julius Malombe and Senator David Musila have been put on the spot after they released fake results favourable to them via WhatsApp during the Wiper Party gubernatorial nominations in the County.
Agents of the two aspirants gave results that were conflicting with various polling stations, forcing the tallying exercise to be halted on Monday night.
The results showed Mr Musila leading in Mwingi North, Mwingi West and Kitui East, however, they were neck-to-neck in Kitui Central, Kitui rural, Kitui West and Kitui South constituencies.
County returning officer, Mr Mutinda urged the two candidates to quit releasing unofficial results on social media.
Journalists were forced to wait for official results from returning officers.
The final results from all eight constituencies in county are yet to be announced.
