House help Poisons Child with Detergent

A house help in Nakuru poisoned her employer's child by feeding her detergent.

The help, Celine Akinyi allegedly mixed a JIK – a laundry agent, with water and gave the three-year-old girl to drink.

Even more bizarre, is that she blames the devil for influencing her to commit the act.

Speaking to The Star,  Betco Waithera- the child's mother, said that the house help had planned to kill her child as she had packed her clothes and was ready to leave after giving the toxic drink to the girl.

Soon after the child took the mixture, she began to cry and lost consciousness.

Waithera, on noticing that something was amiss,  stopped Akinyi from leaving and called the police.

Akinyi had only stayed with the family for one week.

The child was rushed to Nakuru Nursing Home and is in stable condition.

The suspect remains in police custody waiting to be arraigned in court.
