How 2016 KCSE Candidates Performed

Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i on Thursday released results of the 2016 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams and made some major announcements. 

Here are some of the major highlights from the results announcement made at Shimo la Tewa High School in Mombasa County.

1. Only 141 Students Scored straight As in the exams as compared to the 2,685 As recorded in 2015 examinations.

2. Among the top 20 students in the country, boys were only 4 while 16 were girls. 

3. No results were cancelled in 2016 KCSE as compared to 2015 where 5101 candidates failed to get their results. 

4. Only 88,921 candidates scored between A and C+ out of 577, 253 students who sat for the exams. 

5. Only two schools were consistent in the number of candidates who attained grade A in 2015 and 2016 - Alliance Girls and Kenya High School.

6. Candidates who scored an A- (4,645), B+ (10,975) and C+ ( 73,168).
