How Angry Maasai Women are Turning Isinya into a Ghost Town

Women in Isinya, Kajiado County have brought the town to a standstill. Reason- the town has snatched their husbands from them.

The usually busy Isinya town is slowly turning into a subdued town as businesses remain closed in fear of women who have taken to raiding the businesses they have marked as culprits  -especially bars.

Normal activities at the town have been replaced with hundreds of women, dressed in brightly colored Shukas and brandishing sticks while marching down the streets.

The colorful protests began on Thursday.

They claimed the bars were the reason why their husbands squandered all family money on alcohol.

Prostitutes who allegedly position themselves in the pubs were also blamed for influencing men to neglect their families.

The women have called on the government to ban alcohol in the area.

Today, the police had to be called in to stop approximately 1,000 women from entering the town.

The protesting women were allegedly on a mission to attack “husband snatchers.”
