How G4S Dog Caused Bomb Scare at Nairobi's Canadian Embassy

Reports indicate that the bomb scare witnessed on Thursday at the Canadian High Commission in Gigiri, Nairobi, was sparked by a G4S sniffer dog.

The dog raised false alarm of a bomb when parcels were being delivered to the embassy, forcing extra security measures to be taken.

Police revealed that a FedEx Van was delivering visa application documents when the G4S dog barked after sniffing on the van, signalling it had noticed something suspicious, Daily Nation reports.

The embassy personnel was evacuated from the complex while traffic officers diverted vehicles to other roads after locking down Limuru road.

“The Canadian High Commission is currently off-limits. All Core Business Staff, Locally Engaged Staff and Spouses not currently at the Canadian High Commission are to remain at home. Update to follow,” the alert read.

Experts from the bomb disposal team only found out later that the package had documents and there was no threat as previously thought.

The gate's of the embassy are manned by G4S officers accompanied by sniffer dogs.
