I am Ready for EACC Job – Wabukala Tells Uhuru

Retired Archbishop Eliud Wabukala has thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for nominating him to be the new Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Chairperson.

Speaking at his home in Sirisia Village, Bungoma County on Tuesday, the archbishop stated that he was ready for the job.

''Am totally humbled by the appointment. I want to say that the process is in the hands of parliament...which is the beauty of our country's democracy," the archbishop said.

The cleric added, "Kenya needs all of us regardless of our tribe, status, political social or economic class to stand up and pray for everything to end well and when the outcome is out, let it be to the glory and honor of God,"

Wabukala was nominated last week for the post by the Head of State and will be vetted in parliament within 14 days from January 4th, 2017.

The position of EACC chairman fell vacant following the resignation of former anti-corruption boss Philip Kinisu on August 31.

Kinisu left office amid pressure after a company linked to him was mentioned to have received Sh35 Million in the infamous NYS scandal.
