I Was Not Informed Why My Bodyguards Were Withdrawn - Joho Says

Governor Hassan joho, through his Director of Communications Richard Chacha, has revealed that he was not given any reason by the government on why his bodyguards were withdrawn.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Mr Chacha divulged that the officers were called without Joho's knowledge and told to report back to their stations.

The Communications Director further divulged that despite the Tuesday announcement by the police that Joho and Amason Kingi's aides had been reinstated, they were yet to see the bodyguards.

''We have not received any communication or seen those bodyguards after they were withdrawn on Friday last week,'' Mr chacha told this journalist.

Joho arrived in the country on Tuesday after accompanying ODM leader Raila Odinga to Accra, Ghana on Friday to attend the inauguration of President-elect Nana Akufo-Addo on Saturday.

Meanwhile, State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu, on Sunday stated that the withdrawal of the security teams of Joho and Kingi was part of the local security’s command to restructure security in the area.

Speaking while addressing the press at State House, Mombasa, Mr Esipisu denied any political motive in the withdrawal of the bodyguards stating, “Reorganisations happen across the country all the time. Local commands make local decisions and we should not jump to conclusions”.
