I Will Not Leave NASA - Kalonzo Says

Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has dismissed claims that he is planning to bolt out of the National Super Alliance (NASA) and run for the Presidency on a Wiper ticket.

Addressing the press on Tuesday, Kalonzo vowed that he would stick with NASA and respect whoever is nominated the presidential candidate, adding that those spreading the rumours were Jubilee agents.

" I am firmly in NASA and will go for the position of the alliance flag-bearer," the Wiper leader affirmed.

Kalonzo’s sentiments come barely two days after political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi theorised a ploy by the former Vice President to bring down NASA and eventually join Jubilee.

According to Prof. Ngunyi, Mr Musyoka could abandon NASA on claims of rigging in the presidential nomination and in turn run for the top job on a Wiper ticket.

Mr Ngunyi hypothesises that Kalonzo's fall out with other opposition leaders will be aimed at denying NASA the Kamba vote and not necessarily becoming the President.

Ngunyi’s allegations seem to have been confirmed by a section of leaders in Wiper who threatened to abandon Musyoka if he walked out of NASA.

Led by Senators David Musila (Kitui), Mutula Kilonzo Jr (Makueni) and Johnson Muthama (Machakos), they claimed that Kalonzo was being misadvised to run on a wiper ticket.

“It’s a shame Wiper party has portrayed a bad image on the national stage. We look indecisive and concentrating on the wrong things. The party has no choice but to remain focused within CORD,” Mr Kilonzo stated.
