IG Barred from Transfering 99 Police Officers

99 police officers attached to weighbridges have been handed a temporary reprieve after the court suspended their transfer.

The industrial court has in its ruling today Thursday barred the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett from effecting the mass transfer of the 99 police officers from the weighbridges.

A group of traffic police officers in charge of weighbridges had Wednesday, moved to court seeking to stop the effecting of the10 day transfer notice issued by Inspector-General of Police.

The officers through lawyer Wokabi Mathenge argued that the abrupt mass transfers were unfair and meant to punish them, The Nation reports.

In his submission Mr Mathenge argued that the IG's action would cause discontenment, demotivation and affect the good performance of the officers.

The officers were also seeking orders to stop the IG from taking any disciplinary action against them for failing to report to their new stations.
