Ipsos Report Reveals Kenyans Will Be Spending Less This Christmas

A survey has revealed that the generosity of most Kenyans has declined this Christmas compared to 2015.

According to the report conducted by Ipsos, most people will be spending less to buy gift for friends and family.

"Kenyans generosity in terms of buying gifts for friends and relatives, has declined only marginally from last year (from 70% to 66%)," the report highlighted.

The poll also showed that 83 percent of the population will be sending text messages to their family while only 42 percent will be traveling to celebrate the festive season with their loved ones.

Among those traveling to holiday destinations, 64 percent will be cutting on cost by living with relatives, 20 percent will spend their holidays in hotels while only 7 percent will enjoy their time in holiday homes.

Mombasa was mentioned as the favorite holiday spot by 23 percent of the population.

On Christmas day, 88 percent of Kenyans will head to church compared to 83 percent last year.
