Jaguar Resigns From NACADA Board

Musician Charles Kanyi popularly known as Jaguar has resigned from the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) Board.

Jaguar is said to have tendered his resignation letter on Tuesday morning only citing personal reasons for his decision.

“I would like to tender my resignation as a Board member of the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) effective immediately due to personal reasons," he stated.

In the missive, the top musician appreciated the opportunity he got to serve as a member of the board, an experience he described as “fulfilling”.

“Serving as a NACADA Board member has been a fulfilling learning experience and deeply appreciate all the cooperation from the management and staff in the campaign against alcohol and drug abuse. Thank you for the privilege to serve Kenyans,” the letter was quoted by a local daily.

The celeberated artist was selected to the Board in 2015 through a Gazette notice that was personally signed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The Notice also included a list of 302 other officials who were appointed to various state corporations.

Two months after his selection, Jaguar threatened to resign from the position over allegations of rampant corruption within the Authority.

At the time, he complained that the level of graft at NACADA was too high and asked Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery and other investigating bodies to probe the issue.
