Joho Now Reveals His House Was Also Raided

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho on Friday divulged that his Nyali house was also raided days before his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi's home was ambushed.

Joho, who was speaking at a press conference following the Thursday night burglary at Kingi's house, stated that the attack was a ploy by the Government.

"These are the results of police being involved in politics. But we know they are doing this so that we can go plead with them to give us back our security guards, but we are not going to do that," Joho said.

The Mombasa Governor noted that he did not publicise the raid on his home because he did not want 'drama' adding that he had even recorded a statement at Nyali Police Station.

"They did the same to me the other day, but I did not call a press conference. But if you doubt it, go to Nyali police and see the statement I wrote. I did not say anything because people would say it is drama, now you can see for yourself," the Governor added.

Mr Joho further mentioned that the unknown assailants stole valuables during the break-in which happened days after the Government allegedly withdrew his security detail.

At the same time, Governor Kingi told journalists that the robbers broke into his house at around 3am making away with a laptop and a 65-inch television set.

"I heard a loud noise, which made me get my firearm to check what was happening on the front side of the house but I found nothing and went back to sleep.

"But when we woke up in the morning we found that three doors had been broken and the items which were in my children’s living room had been stolen," Kingi stated.
