Jordan King Abdullah II to Visit Kenya

King Abdullah II of Jordan is set to fly back into the country just two months after being hosted by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The King, who last visited Kenya in September, is expected to lead a delegation for a business forum organised by Jordan Investment Commission in conjunction with the East Amman Investors Industrial Association.

The event dubbed ‘Meet Jordan in Nairobi’ will run from Tuesday to Friday next week and is expected to be attended by close to a 100-member business team.

According to organisers, the forum is meant to cement economic and business ties between Kenya and Jordan with the main focus being agriculture, aviation, health, construction, information technology, leather, cosmetics, food & beverages and hospitality industries.

Jordanian Promotion and International Trade Fairs Advisor Mohammed Al Zeyada stated that Kenya was an important avenue for the Middle East country to penetrate the continent.

“The trip brings Jordan enterprises which have excelled in providing distinguished products and services,” stated Zeyada.

King Abdullah made his first visit to Kenya in September and together with President Kenyatta, witnessed a joint military exercise conducted by elite KDF units - Special Forces and Ranger Regiment - and the Quick Reaction Force of the Royal Jordanian Armed Forces.

During the tour, the two leaders pledged to forge stronger military ties and greater coordination in combating emerging security threats.

They further engaged in talks focusing on wider bilateral issues including ways to expand trade between Kenya and Jordan.
