Josphat Nanok Accuses DP Ruto of Criticising His Government

Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok has expressed anger accusing Deputy President (DP) William Ruto of embarrassing his government.

In a statement issued on Monday, Nanok claimed that the DP's recent visit in the county discredited his government despite being dubbed a voter mobilisation drive.

Nanok claimed that Ruto ignored the county administration and concentrated on hitting at his government claiming that it had not initiated development projects.

The governor added that Ruto used every opportunity he got to attack the county government instead of addressing the needs of the electorate.

He stated that he was not invited or informed of DP's itinerary adding that Ruto turned the visit into a Jubilee campaign tour.

“It cannot go unnoticed that the DP who overlooked the intergovernmental framework of coordination kept Turkana County Government in the dark on his visitation, and utilised every opportunity to launch scathing attacks on my leadership,” stated the governor.

The ODM governor further accused Ruto of trying to impose some leaders on the residents and neglecting the region.

“His unwarranted attack on my leadership is malicious and aimed at installing weaker leaders to our people whom he can easily manipulate and comfortably plunder our resources,” claimed Nanok.

Ruto was in the County over the weekend where he urged residents to register as voters in the ongoing exercise in preparation for the August 8.
