Jubilee to Hold Demonstrations Over IEBC

The National Alliance party has threatened to mobilise Jubilee coalition supporters next week to hold demonstrations if the Opposition persisted with their anti-IEBC protests.

TNA Secretary General Onyango Oloo on Tuesday said that Jubilee would hold similar demonstrations to restore dignity in the country, if the Opposition failed to follow the right channels to eject electoral Commissioners from office.

"If the leaders believe they have enough evidence to warrant the removal of IEBC Commissioners, they should table it for us to address the issues as a country," Oloo said.

Speaking at the party’s offices in Nairobi, Mr Oloo said that the IEBC commissioners were not perfect but the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) ought to follow the constitution in removing the Electoral body officials from office.

Opposition leaders led by Chief Principal Raila Odinga staged their second demonstration in Nairobi and Kisumu in a bid to have IEBC disbanded before next year's elections.

During the protests that ended in running battles with the anti-riot police, the leaders vowed to carry on with the 'Occupy IEBC' protests until the commissioners were sent home.

“We cannot keep quiet as one sharpens a dagger ready to harm us. Issack Hassan [IEBC chairman] and his team must go home," Raila stated.
