Jubilee MPs Warn Opposition Against Inciting Violence

Jubilee foot soldiers have issued a strong warning to Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader Raila Odinga.

The team, comprising of Jubilee Members of Parliament (MPs), on Friday warned the Opposition leader and his supporters against causing any violence through incitement.

“This government will not allow him (Odinga) to cause Kenyans to harm each other ever again,” they stated.

Led by nominated MP Johnson Sakaja, Rachael Shebesh (Nairobi), Cecily Mbarire (Runyenjes), Ndung’u Githinji (Tetu) and nominated Senator Beatrice Elachi, they advised Odinga to expect more criticism from President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy William Ruto, urging him to retire from politics if he cannot handle them.

The MPs were responding to ODM Chairman John Mbadi's statement in which he castigated Kenyatta and Ruto for what he termed insulting Odinga during their tour of the Central region.

They dismissed Mbadi's comments as “baseless and pointless” maintaining that Kenyatta had a right to exercise his freedom of expression and an obligation to warn Kenyans of any impending danger.

Earlier in a strongly-worded letter, the ODM Chairman observed that Kenyatta and Ruto had consistently and with no care insulted Mr Odinga, adding that the duo was "lighting a fire that they will not be able to extinguish".

“Words like stupid, wicked, witch, small man, mad man or insane cannot be the language of conducting the business of the presidency,” Mbadi said.

The Suba MP further stated:“Unless they stop, Uhuru and Ruto will burn Kenya. If it comes to that, they will have no one but themselves to blame and they must be prepared to shoulder responsibility.”
