Jubilee Party Reveals Amount of Money to be Paid by All Aspirants

The Jubilee Party has finally announced the amount of money all aspirants must pay in order to get a chance to vie on the party's ticket.

The party stated that all leaders interested in vying for gubernatorial seats would be required to part with Sh100,000 non-refundable fee.

According to a statement by Jubilee Secretary-General Veronica Maina, all leaders who are eying senatorial seats would have to pay Sh50,000.

On the other hand, Members of Parliament (MPs) and Women Representative should prepare Sh30,000 each, while Ward representatives will need to pay Sh20,000.

“Pursuant to Article 13 and 14 of the Jubilee Constitution and Rule 9 of the party nomination rules, the Jubilee Party invites all aspirants for the 2017 elections to register their intention to run,” stated Ms Maina.

This is set to be a lower fee compared to that charged by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) which ordered presidential aspirants to pay Sh1 Million, Sh500,000 (governor), Sh250,000 (senator, MP), Sh25,000 (MCA) for its ticket.

Meanwhile, the party has warned against unscrupulous people who have been soliciting for money from aspirants under the pretext of being Jubilee officials.

“No agent or official has been appointed by the Jubilee Party to collect any fees on behalf of the party,” added the Secretary-General.

Ms Maina, however, did not disclose whether President Uhuru Kenyatta will pay to get the party's ticket as he prepares for his 2017 re-election bid.
