Jubilee Politicians Maina Kamanda, Thuo Mathenge and Bundotich Kiprop aka Buzeki Under Investigation for Forged Academic Papers

Following the highly publicised debacle pitting Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho against the government, more politicians, especially in the Jubilee Party, are in a quagmire after petitioners have moved to court to launch investigations into the validity of their academic papers.

Starehe Member of Parliament (MP) Maina Kamanda is next in line as the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has been petitioned to authenticate his Form Four certificate. The petitioner is seeking to have the former Minister for Gender barred from contesting in the upcoming General Election.

In Uasin Gishu County, a lawyer, Mr Boaz Kimeli, has moved to court to challenge the credibility of an undergraduate degree belonging to gubernatorial aspirant Zedekiah Kiprop.

Kimeli claims there is no proof that billionaire businessman Kiprop, who is a Jubilee ticket, was qualified to pursue the degree.

"He has them yes (the academic papers), but he was not qualified from the beginning to pursue them from admission," Kimeli noted.

Another petitioner in Nyeri County has opposed the governorship bid of Mr Thuo Mathenge. The petitioner wrote to the Jubilee Party demanding that the politician's nomination be revoked because he had knowingly handed in questionable academic papers.

A court ruling issued in 2012 declared that there was no evidence to ascertain that Mathenge attended Fairland University in Uganda.
