KDF Soldier Found Dead in Umoja

A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier was on Saturday morning found dead inside his car just a month after returning from Somalia.

The body of the soldier whose identity was not immediately revealed is said to have been discovered by residents of Umoja estate in Nairobi.

According to witnesses, the deceased had been drinking for the better part of Saturday night alongside two women at a bar located in the area.

He had reportedly returned from Somalia where he was participating in the African Union Mission in Somalia (Amisom) in which the country has been fighting the Al Shabaab militants.

Police officers privy to the matter stated that the serviceman could have been drugged by the women who later broke into his home and made away with household goods.

Officials from the Forces are said to have arrived at the scene as the police commenced investigations into the mysterious death.

Earlier in the month, a former soldier was brutally murdered by unknown assailants who raided his home in Gilgil, Nakuru County.

The officer in his late 30s is said to have been attacked by a machete-wielding gang that hacked him to death before dragging his body to the roadside.

Residents who found his body said the officer had been living in seclusion for some time with the motive of the brutal attack remaining unknown.
