Ken Wa Maria Speaks After Near Tragic Accident

Renowned Musician Ken wa Maria has revealed details on what transpired, leading to the grisly road accident that befell him over the weekend.

Speaking from his hospital bed, at St Francis Community Hospital in Kasarani area, Nairobi, the popular Kenyan singer stated that he was hit by a drunk driver.

"Just before the TRM Junction, a drunk guy knocked my car, I got injured and a good samaritan brought me here," Wa Maria stated.

The Fundamentals hitmaker noted that the intoxicated driver hit him and shoved him into the underbelly of a lorry that was ahead of him.

Wa Maria, who was on his way to Ruiru where he had been booked for a performance, observed that were it not for the airbags in his vehicle, worse things could have happened.

Images of his wrecked Toyota RAV 4 vehicle indicated the impact of the Saturday night accident along the Thika Superhighway .

This comes as incidents of road carnage caused by drunk driving continue to rise.

A report released by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) in 2015, revealed how the Superhighway was one of the most dangerous roads in Nairobi, with private motorists accounting for the highest number of fatalities recorded within the City.
